Job Description:

This is a chance to be part of the core team moving towards the exciting startup of the ACE Charter School. ACE has been an important factor in education reform in San Jose, California since 2004 by successful incubation of small, autonomous schools in the Alum Rock Union Elementary and the Franklin McKinnley School Districts. Now our first Charter School has been approved by the Santa Clara County Office of Education. The school is targeting low-achieving middle school students reach academic proficiency, and is scheduled to open in June 2008. Please visit www.acepublic.org for more information.

Qualifications for the Executive Assistant:
Reporting to the ACE Executive Director, the successful candidate for the ACE Executive Assistant position will have demonstrated skills in the following:

  • Providing administrative “backoffice” support to the Executive Director, the Business Manager, the Board of Directors, and other staff members as required, for all ACE Administrative processes, human resources functions, document creation/retention, and assistance with ACE financial management.
  • Office management skills, the ability to develop and operate the processes necessary for a successful educationally oriented backoffice
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative in designing and driving timelines, following-up with others who have a role in achieving goals, raising concerns with supervisor, and making suggestions for continued improvement.
  • Creation of systems for tracking project timelines and deadlines.
  • Maintenance/creation of written procedures for all standard activities pertaining to this position.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with ACE management, staff and, as required, external stakeholders regarding.
  • High proficiency using Microsoft Windows/Office.
  • Experience in a school or educational environment is a plus, as would experience with charter school development.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus.
