Job
Description:
The
mission of the CHIME Charter Middle School is to provide
an inclusive learning community where all students, parents,
and professionals appreciate and value diversity in all
its forms. We educate students to become conscientious,
responsible citizens, whereby they assume the role of life-long
learners as they reflect upon and contribute to the cultural
and civic life of the community. All students, grades 6th
through 8th grade, are supported to achieve high standards
in both their academic and personal development through
an educational program based on constructivist approaches,
and designed to engage students in problem solving activities
at levels appropriate to their individual needs.
In
collaboration with California State University, Northridge
(CSUN) and the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD),
CHIME Charter Middle School serves as a laboratory in which
faculty and students investigate how young teens learn,
and as a resource on inclusive education for educators,
parents, policy makers and others. The School serves as
a demonstration site for student teachers, supervisors,
practicing educators, policy makers and parents.
Staffing emphasizes a co-teaching, transdisciplinary
approach in which general and special education teachers
along with related service providers work together to meet
the needs of all students. The inclusive classrooms will
be staffed with teachers holding Multiple Subject and Specialist
credentials.
We are looking to fill positions for the
Fall ’08 year. Candidates should possess a valid teaching
credential appropriate to the teaching assignment and a
commitment to the school vision and mission.
Salary and benefits are competitive and
commensurate with experience. Interested candidates please
