Job Description:

Teaching at the CSUCI Professional Development Schools offers a unique opportunity for teachers to participate in a high level professional development experience.

UPS and UCMS are Professional Development Schools for CSUCI. In this collaborative relationship we regularly work with student teachers, service learning students, and University faculty. UPS and UCMS teachers participate in highly collaborative grade level and cross-grade level teams. UPS and UCMS have strong standards-based academic programs where students are taught in multi-age clusters that loop for one to two years. Multilingualism is a key component in our educational philosophy. Some students are in a dual language strand, a 50/50 model focusing on biliteracy, while others are in a language enrichment strand receiving approximately 1 ½ hours of conversational Spanish a week

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of standards-based education
  • Exemplary classroom design and teaching strategies, practices
  • Knowledge of effective assessment strategies
  • Knowledge of differentiation theory strategies
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Reflective teaching/learning practices
  • CLAD or BCLAD Certification
  • A minimum of three years of classroom experience
  • Experience with diverse population

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership roles with adults
  • Spanish language proficiency
