Creative
Arts Charter School, San Francisco's only public K-8 school
dedicated to the arts, is looking to fill the newly created
position of Business Manager. We seek a dynamic team player
with excellent communication skills and a commitment to
a public, progressive education. The ideal candidate will
not only be responsible for all areas of accounting and
finance, but will serve as an advisor to the School Director
and to the Board of Directors in assisting them with making
sound business decisions. This position reports directly
to the School Director.
The
ideal candidate will have experience in accounting/finance
and should be familiar with all aspects of managing a small
business or small non-profit organization (described below).
The ideal candidate must have superior time-management skills,
and be able to effectively identify and resolve the day-to-day
issues that may arise and require immediate attention.
General Responsibilities:

Participates in the selection, training, and direct supervision
of office administrative staff.

Manages all functions related to school finance, HR, facilities,
SIS and development.

Maintains regular communication and advises to school
director in all areas of responsibility.

Establishes active, cooperative relationships with staff,
students, and parents.

Promotes parental and community support for school programs,
goals and objectives.

Interprets and administers CACS Board of Directors, Board
of Education and District policies and administrative
regulations.
- Assists
in the development and implementation of the school goals,
including benchmark performances; assists in program development
activities as related to school operations.

Special task and projects as assigned by the school director.
Specific
Responsibilities:
Finance
-
Manages the day-to-day business affairs of the school
-
Oversees bookkeeping, using QuickBooks -- in charge of
accounting system
- Prepares
and manages budgets, and financial statements; operational
summaries and monthly management analysis for the Board
of Directors
-
General ledger, P&L, Cash Flow and Balance Sheet
-
Tracks all receivable and payables
-
Oversees payroll, using payroll service
- Coordinates
with CPA and Board the annual audit and tax preparation
- Manages
financial relationships with vendors, production services
clients, independent contractors and consultant projects
- Conducts
ongoing organizational analysis to identify needed improvements
and strategies for increasing organizational efficiency
(e.g., energy efficiency of facility)
- Banking
– responsible for monitoring accounts, monthly reconciliation,
deposits

Compliance – comply with all SFUSD and CDE reporting
requirements
Operations
-
Vendors – maintain contracts and relationships;
monitor accounts
-
Facilities – coordinate with SFUSD and independent
contractors
-
Develops and implements a facility management plan for
scheduled maintenance and repair
- Oversees
house and grounds keeping
- Oversees
insurance policies
- Procurement
– research and advise on capital expenditures
HR
-
New hires – onboarding paperwork, fingerprinting,
etc.
- Manage
Employee Benefits – administration of accounts

Health, Dental, AFLAC, 403B
-
Payroll – handle all facets of payroll administration
w/ service
-
Track all employee attendance, vacation, sick and PTO
use/accruals
Development
-
Manage part-time development contractor to keep LOI process
going
-
Work with grant writers and school staff on development
of LOI

Develop budgets for all grant submissions
-
Write grant reports as necessary for existing grants
-
Write new grants as opportunities become available
-
Provide technical support to Board, Director and Fundraising
Committee to meet school fundraising goals to cultivate
private donors
Technology
-
Manage SIS - PowerSchool
-
Email – manage email accounts
Compensation
Starting Salary: commensurate with applicant’s
qualifications. Please provide Salary history for the prior
5 years. Generous benefits package with medical,
dental and 403(b) plan.
Hours: 8-4 daily. 10 holidays, 10 sick days, 8
days off at Winter Break, 4 days off at Spring Break plus
4 weeks vacation.
Requirements
-
Minimum 4 year college degree.
- Ability
to work in a fast paced, always changing environment is
required.
- Ability
to work independently and as a team required.

Strong knowledge of Quickbooks, familiarity with MSOffice,
and basic HTML required.

Managerial experience required
- Clear
written and verbal skills- appropriate for varying situations
and audiences

Thoughtful, reflective, diplomatic
- Can
clearly communicates point of view yet fully supports
final decisions if different from one’s own
Preferred

- MBA
