Description:
The
Language Academy of Sacramento (LAS) is a Dual Language
Immersion K-8 Charter school in its fourth year of operation.
The LAS seeks fluently bilingual, Spanish and English teacher
candidates who are dedicated and committed to developing
and providing a rigorous curriculum. All employees are expected
to support the mission of the school and must actively participate
in a professional and team learning community.
Responsibilities
& Qualifications:
1.
Teaching - required knowledge, skills, competencies and
abilities
-
Plan instruction appropriate to subject(s), grade level(s),
abilities and cultural background of his/her students.
-
Create and organize classroom rules, procedures and routines.
-
Manage student behavior to ensure student learning.
-
Establish a culture of high expectations, diversity, cultural
sensitivity and understanding.
-
Establish clear content and language objectives for all
lessons, units, and projects
-
Provide instruction to special needs students and work
in conjunction with the Resource Specialist Teacher to
ensure that IEP student goals are being met.
-
Maintain an ongoing communication with students and parents
about the students’ level of instruction, academic
progress and/or deficiencies.
-
Provide differentiated instruction as needed.
-
Develop and evaluate independent study as needed/requested
by parents.
-
Monitor and evaluate student progress regularly in relation
to learning objectives.
-
Track information, and maintain accurate student records.
-
Analyze qualitative and quantitative student data; use
this data to drive instruction and to differentiate instruction.
-
Administer standardized assessment, school-selected assessments
in accordance with the School.
-
Plan, implement, monitor and assess a classroom instructional
program consistent with the California State Standards
and the Mission of the school.
2.
Professional
-
Actively participate and contribute to the School’s
professional development.
-
Demonstrate knowledge of and support the School’s
Mission, standards, policies, procedures, philosophy,
and code of ethical behavior.
-
Collaborate with and motivate parent involvement.
-
Implement Best Practices
-
Provide students and parents with regular and timely information
on classroom activities, school events, parent conferences,
progress reports, report cards etc.
-
Attend evening and weekend school programs and parent
meetings as needed.
-
Perform yard duty and/or cafeteria supervision.
-
Represent the School and program to district, county,
state and/or federal community groups. Interact with outside
agencies as necessary.
-
Maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance.
-
Mentor and/or plan with grade level partner teacher and/or
mentor BTSA teacher.
-
Complete all assignments in a timely fashion.
-
Work collaboratively with all LAS teachers and staff.
-
Reflect, improve and collaborate with colleagues, parents
and community.
-
Actively participates and contributes to the weekly grade-level
meetings and professional development.
-
Identify student needs and collaborate with other team
members and outside services to support you and your students’
needs.
-
Utilize community resources in support of academic program.
-
Commitment to work in an innovative and entrepreneurial
environment.

Excited about teaching in a socio economically and ethnically
diverse inner city environment.

Tolerate and manage high levels of stress in a productive
manner.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability
to listen and be responsive to student, parents, colleagues,
community members, administrators and Board members.

Minimum
Requirements
-
Credential: Multiple Subject Teaching Credential including
all course credential requirements.
-
BCLAD or equivalent
- NCLB
compliant
-
Knowledge of Dual Language Immersion Education and language
acquisition
-
Knowledge of subject matter, including California State
Standards.
-
Excellent speaking, reading, writing and math skills in
English and Spanish
-
First aid and CPR certified by first day of employment.
-
Valid TB Clearance by first day of employment.
-
Computer skills proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point
and others as necessary.
Preferred
Qualifications
-
California Charter school experience or familiarity with
California charter schools regulations.
-
At least 2 years of teaching experience.
-
Leadership skills with the ability to facilitate parent
meetings, and enhance cooperative working relationships.
-
Strong communication and problem solving skills in both
Spanish and English
-
Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum development.
