Seeking: Teachers for Science, Mathematics, Spanish and Mandarin

Colegio New City(CNC) is a small, urban public charter high school opening in the Fall of 2008. CNC will be part of the New City Public Schools small charter network. New City Public Schools operates two highly successful K-8 schools in downtown Long Beach, California. CNC is looking for passionate, creative educators to help build a successful college prep program from the ground up! Classes are cored academically and learning is project based. Teachers work as part of a team for planning, teaching, and assessment as well as for school operation.

As a team teacher in our school, you are expected to:

• collaborate with the parents, teachers, and community members in order to implement our school’s mission
• facilitate the development of autonomy in each your students
• grow professionally and improve your practice as part of a teaching team
• take on leadership roles in the school, sharing administrative responsibilities

Skills/Requirements
Candidates for this position should:

• hold a valid California Teaching Credential
• be passionate about getting kids prepared for college and the 21st century workforce
• be energized by participating in the development of a new school experience
• work creatively with parents to build meaningful connections between the school, the students’ families, and our community
• have at least two years teaching experience
