Charter School (“OCS”) is a California State
chartered progressive public school located in Altadena.
We serve up to 260 students in grades K-8. Forming the foundation
of our progressive teaching philosophy is that children
learn best by doing. Therefore, we strive to provide a “hands-on”
learning environment to all our students. Our classrooms
are multi-age and teachers follow the progress of students
for more than one year. Our students thrive in an environment,
which is academically focused, tolerant of different learning
styles and based on cooperative models of learning between
students and between students and teachers.
Teacher Responsibilities:

Plan, implement and instruct developmentally appropriate
activities to promote overall academic and emotional growth
of students, which reflects the school’s vision,
mission and charter.

Assess and monitor student achievement and growth utilizing
school assessment tools.

Modify teaching practices as needed per classroom assessments
and individual needs
-
Meet with parents and students to construct Individualized
learning Plans.
-
Ensure that all student needs are being met and if needed
meet with the Inclusion Specialist, Lead Teacher and Director
for additional support.

Seek support from colleagues ongoing.
-
Engage in meaningful professional development activities
on a weekly basis.
-
Communicate with parents on an ongoing basis.
-
Review, understand and commit to the school policies and
procedures and charter.

Utilize state standards and school Curriculum Guide to
develop classroom curriculum.
- Meet
deadlines given by Lead Teacher and/or Director.
Qualifications:
-
Teaching experience in a constructivist, multiage learning
environment serving diverse student populations with a
variety of learning styles and abilities or related education.
- Must
have excellent communication skills (both oral and written)

Team player!

Must have valid California Teaching Credential.

Masters Degree or National Board Certification preferred.
- Ability
to use discretion and good judgment when dealing with
confidential and sensitive information.

Must have current certification in First Aid and CPR.
