Frequently Asked Questions

 

1. How much does the Governance Academy cost?
  The Governance Academy is FREE. Eagle Peak Montessori was awarded a grant from the California Department of Education as part of the federal Charter School Dissemination Grant program. All participants’ costs are covered under this grant.
 
2. What about travel costs and hotel/lodging?
 

Participants WILL pay up-front for their transportation and program-approved lodging. Reimbursements for these costs will be made upon the completion of the program.

3. As an Academy participant, do I have to attend everything?
  To receive the certificate of completion, Academy participants are required to participate in all meetings, classes and sessions. As part of the grant, Eagle Peak Montessori and CSDC are required to document each participant's attendance. This is also a requirement for financial reimbursement.
   
4. Who should we send from our board and school?
  The Governance Academy recommends sending a small group from the governing board of your school. Ideally, 1-3 board members and the school director will participate in the Academy to improve knowledge and collaboration.
   
5. Does my school have to be a Montessori school to participate?
  No. Eagle Peak Montessori is a California charter school and the Governance Academy is open to all board members from California charter schools, regardless of curriculum or teaching philosophy.
