CHARTER
SCHOOL LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
An intensive, multi-day "boot camp" for charter school
leaders
WHAT IS IT?
The Charter School Leadership Institute
is a nationally renowned leadership training opportunity for California
charter school leaders. This intensive, multi-day "boot camp"
is designed to ensure that charter school leaders have the technical,
organizational, and interpersonal skills and tools necessary to
effectively lead their schools. The Institute is organized by
the Charter Schools Development Center (CSDC), a non-profit resource
center that provides experienced and expert technical assistance,
training, and resources to California charter school developers,
operators, charter-granting agencies, and policymakers. The 11th
annual CSDC Charter School Leadership Institute will feature national
charter school experts at a five-star facility for a fraction
of the actual cost. Invited presenters include CSDC Director Eric
Premack; Dr. Katherine Merseth, Director of Teacher Preparation
at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, attorneys expert
in charter school law; other CSDC staff; and veteran charter school
practitioners.

WHO

This Institute is designed for and targeted at new
and experienced California charter school principals and other
school leaders who have direct responsibility for overseeing and
managing a broad range of responsibilities at their schools. The
Institute is not appropriate for charter school developers whose
charters have not yet been approved. Preference will be given
to those applicants whose needs most closely align with the mission
and goals of the Institute, as well as to those schools serving
less advantaged student populations.
