SHOULD PARTICIPATE? The
CBO Training Program and Summer Intensive are both designed
for:
- California
charter school directors,

Business officers,
- Governing
board treasurers,
- Charter-granting
agency staff, and
- Anyone
else who has significant financial management and/or oversight
responsibilities and who are committed to attending and
participating actively in a rigorous training program.

WHAT
IS THE CBOT AND SUMMER INTENSIVE?
The
full CBOT is an intensive, 200-hour training program comprised
of 22-modules (150-hours) of classroom training, resulting
in a Charter Schools Development Center’s CBO Certificate
of Completion.

It starts
with the six-day Summer Intensive, which will cover seven
classroom modules (see below), plus 15 additional modules
(each approximately seven hours in length) that will be offered
during the 2008-9 school year.
The
CBO Summer Intensive is a six-day intensive, residential training
program. It constitutes the first part of the full CBOT. Anticipated
training modules include the following (subject to change
depending on participant interest/need):

WHAT
IS THE COST?
Summer
Training Only:
For the six-day Summer Intensive program, the cost is $2,500.
Payment in full is required at the time of application. This
covers tuition for the summer intensive only, as well as lodging
and meals at the conference center. Travel to and from
the summer intensive is not included in the cost.
Full CBO Training Program: For the entire
22-module training, the cost is $6,500. This covers both the
Summer Intensive training as well as tuition for the entire
22-module program and supervision of intensive, individualized
instruction, most printed course materials and access to selected
CSDC resources. A deposit of $2,500 is required at
the time of application. Travel to and
from the summer intensive or lodging/travel for future training
venues is not included in the costs.
PLEASE
NOTE: CSDC’s
CBO Training Program was approved by the State Board of Education
for California’s CBO Training categorical funding program.
During
2006-07, the program provided state support of $3,000 per
eligible participant completing an approved program.
Although
funds for the program were cut in 2007-08, it is possible
that this categorical program will be reinstated for the 2008-09

HOW
DO I APPLY?
1.
Complete and submit the online
application. (We recommend 20-30 minutes to complete
application).
2.
Download
the Statement of Intent to Participate.
3.
Mail in fee/deposit and signed Statement of Intent.

Applications
are due no later than June 6, 2008. Applications
will be processed in the order which they are received. Space
is limited to 40 people.

to both programs is by competitive application and is at the
discretion of the Charter Schools Development Center. CSDC
